NRA Basics of Pistol
Whether you’ve never picked up a handgun before or you’re looking to refresh your skills, the NRA Basics of Pistol course at Appalachian Gun, Range & Training is the perfect place to start.
This comprehensive, hands-on course is taught by NRA Certified Instructor Stephanie Joyce and is designed to build a strong foundation in safe, responsible firearm ownership. Students will learn proper handgun operation, safe handling and storage, ammunition fundamentals, shooting techniques, and range etiquette in a friendly, supportive learning environment.
The class includes both classroom instruction and live-fire range training, giving students the confidence and skills needed to safely handle and accurately shoot a pistol. Upon successful completion of the course and NRA qualification, students will receive an NRA Course Completion Certificate.

Course Details
- When: Every 3rd Saturday
- Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Location: Appalachian Gun, Range & Training, Jasper, Georgia
- Cost: $150 per student (includes classroom materials and range time)

- Eye and ear protection
- Your handgun and approximately 50 rounds of ammunition
- Lunch and water
- Note-taking materials
Dress Code: Closed-toe shoes, long pants, a high-neck shirt, and a ball cap or brimmed hat are recommended for safety on the range.
